With the likes of Chase Oliver, Mark Austria and Cooper Ruckel (among others) as the main competition, it is quite the accolade these days to be mentioned as a candidate for best Wiffle®Ball pitcher in Texas. Drew Dobbins firmly cemented himself in that conversation this summer, first by leading The Runs to victory at the June Cedar Park fast pitch tournament. Drew is a hard thrower who bears some resemblance to circa-2018 Ray Lutick mechanically. His go-to offering is a heavy screw drop that he largely delivers straight over the top. Drew complements that pitch a side arm drop that has much more vertical movement than his main offering and is most effective when it dips just below the strike zone. Dobbins is also a solid left-handed, as evidenced by his opposite field game winning home off Oliver and TC35 in the finals of that June tournament. Although The Runs were unable to repeat at the state fast pitch finals in July, Dobbins got his feet wet in national competition playing with Punishment at United WIffle®Ball in October and helped lead a combined Runs/TC35 squad to victory at MLW’s Texas Rumble tournament in December.
