NEW YORK
After a few seasons away from the game, Sean Ryan – a longtime member of the Palisades WBL – returned, joining up with a new-look Stompers squad for the 2021 MAW season. Ryan spent the Opening Day Tournament shaking off the rust and getting adjusted to his new surroundings – all which is a nice way of saying that he didn’t do anything of note in his first tourney back. As it turned out, all Ryan needed was that one tournament to rewet his feet and get back to being the clutch hitter that he has always been. In the first game of the very next tournament, Ryan took Cam Farro deep to temporarily put the Stompers ahead of the Aces in a wild back-and-forth contest. Two weeks after that, he tied things late versus Connor Young and ERL with a 5th inning solo home run (which game just an inning after he was robbed of a home run). Dramatic home runs like those set the tone for the rest of Ryan’s season. He often delivered the big hit when the Stompers needed one and was the driving force behind their upstart offense. In addition to MAW, Sean also competed in Colonie, at the NWLAT, and at the National Championship Tournament for the first time in 2021. Although his arm is banged up to the point that he is essentially a one-way player at this stage in his career, Sean has more than enough thump left in his bat to be a very valuable offensive-only weapon.
