SOUTHSIDE SERPENTS (FWL)
ILLINOIS

For the last eight summers, the Falkner Wiffle®Ball League in Naperville, Illinois has played a full season of backyard Wiffle®Ball. With most of their players now in their late high school/early college years and the competition rising to a noticeably high level, the league very much resembles Ridley Park and MLW of a few years ago in terms of young talent who appear more-than-ready to take the step in their Wiffle®Ball lives should they chose to do so. At the top of that list is one of the league’s namesake players, Andrew Falkner. The lanky right hander has dominated the league on both sides of the ball since the beginning and he possess all the elements of a top-level prospect. His velocity already appears above average, he has shown the ability to throw effectively from a few different arm angles, and he has control of a few different average to above average offerings. Andrew has put a lot of mileage on his arm before turning 20 – he threw 97 innings during the FWL regular season this past summer and they were high-effort innings – but he also just might possess one of those durable Wiffle®Ball arms. Falkner was just as good at the plate this year and won the AL MVP and Cy Young awards in the FWL American League. The league has plenty of talented Wiffle®Ball (and baseball) pitchers and hitters so it is not as if he is simply feasting on the competition. Andrew would likely go through an adjustment period when or if he competes in other tournaments or ventures to another league but based on how he looked this summer the odds are very good that he would transition just fine.
